Saying Goodbye: My Final Post

By Matt (The Average White Dude) | September 26, 2008

I started this blog about a year ago.

For those of you who just found the blog, welcome. For those of you who have been along for the entire journey, I thank you for all your comments and feedback.

But today, I’m making my final post. I’m shutting the blog down.

closed

Here’s why:

I started this blog to help all the "average guys" out there. Which is where the title came from.

But just because you and I started out average, does NOT mean we have to stay that way.

Which is why I’m shutting down this blog. But don’t worry. Because next week I’m launching a brand new blog.

And I think you’re going to love the changes.

Here’s what’s in store:

I think you’re really going to love the new blog.

And I’m happy to report that the blog will be going live next week. My web guy is putting the final touches on it now.

So watch your email because I’ll be sending you a quick note when the blog goes live.

Thanks again and I hope to see you over at the new blog.

Cheers,

Matt

It’s back to school time and some of our readers will find themselves stuck inside the confines of a 8 x 8 space. That’s right, the dorm room.

tinydormroom

Sure, most universities now offer a weight room for students. But usually the gym is reserved for athletes-only during regular hours. And with crazy class schedules it can be tough to get there during other times.

But don’t worry, because I’m going to show you how to build big shoulders even if you’re stuck in a tiny dorm room.

Click here to see how you can build "Shoulders like Superman" in a tiny space with no equipment.

Enjoy.

A Slimcado? Now I’ve Seen Everything…

By Matt (The Average White Dude) | August 19, 2008

I popped into the grocery store to grab an Avacado.
(It was taco night at my house.)

Except… there were no avacados. Instead, I found a "Slimcado."

slimcado

Apparently, through the marvels of genetic engineering, scientists have found a way to manufacture an avacado with 35% fewer calories and 50% less fat.

Here’s The Problem…

The avacado is (was?) chock-full of healthy fats.

I’m talking about mono-unsaturated fats. The "good" fats that most of us are sorely lacking in our diets.

So by removing half of the fat from the avacado, scientists are actually taking a perfectly good food and making it worse for you.

It’s the equivalent of genetically-altering oranges to remove the Vitamin C. (Don’t get any ideas, slimcado makers.)

Overweight? Blame the avacado.

I understand that Americans are getting fatter and everybody’s looking for a way to cut calories… but are Avacados really the culprit behind the obesity crisis?

Was anyone getting fat because they were simply eating too many Avacodos?

fatkid

(Clearly, this child has been eating way too many Avacados. Luckily his parents have weaned him off and put him on the standard American diet of soda pop and french fries.)

Rant over.

Moral of the story? Don’t buy Slimcados.

Some guys assume that to get the bulging biceps of a gymnast, you have to spend hours at the weight room.

To build muscle, you’ve got to eat lots of protein and quality calories.

Did you know that skipping workouts can actually help you build muscle at a faster pace?

It seems counter-intuitive, but taking breaks from training can actually get you to your goals faster than if you trained non-stop.

Forcing yourself to work-out when you are on the edge of over-training is a mistake.

Unfortunately, it can sometimes be difficult to accurately gauge the symptoms of over-training.

In this article I’ll break-down a real world example of how I recognized the symptoms of over-training and what I did to get back on track.

Recently, I stumbled across an interesting article about
using bodyweight exercises to burn off body fat.

The star of the article lost 133 pounds and reduced his body fat down to 6.5%.

He says, "If you can’t do 20 strict form push-ups and chin-ups, then you shouldn’t think about touching a dumbbell. Bodyweight exercises are enough to build the body that women really want."

Check out the CNN article here.
