It happens every four years.

The Olympic gymnasts show up on the television and guys everywhere start to ask, "How can I make my biceps look like that?"

Some guys assume that to get the bulging biceps of a gymnast, you have to spend hours at the weight room.

However, that’s not the case. Most gymnasts do NOT perform a great deal of weight training.

In today’s article, I’ll show you three tips that will help you build "guns like a gymnast."

Tip #1: "The Pump" Is For Chumps

In every gym, you see "the pumpers."

The guys who lift light weights over and over trying to "pump up" their biceps.

These guys never get any bigger. Because they never get any stronger. They never force themselves to use heavier weights.

Nope, they just go along pumping.

This is pretty much the exact opposite of what gymnasts do.

Gymnasts don’t mess around with 20 pound dumbbells. Why? Because they’re too busy lifting 150 pound humans!

Forget the dainty dumbbells.

Instead, start lifting your own bodyweight.

Tip #2: The Ultimate Bicep-Growth Exercise

When it comes to blasting your biceps, the single best exercise is the chin-up.

Here’s why:

Research has shown that the exercises that cause the most intense muscular contractions are the exercises that force you to move your entire body through space.

The chin-up is a prime example of one such exercise.

When performing a chin-up, your hands remain stationary and your entire body moves through space. This causes the muscles in your arms to contact with greater intensity, which in turn causes greater muscle growth.

Tip #3: Constantly Challenge Yourself

As soon as a gymnast masters one move, his coach will start him on the next move. This constant progression forces the muscles to adapt.

And the way that muscles adapt is by growing bigger and stronger.

Keep raising the bar:

Once you can do a chin-up, shoot for 10. Once you can do 10, shoot for 20.

If you can do 20, start strapping weight to your waist. Constantly strive for one more rep.

It doesn’t happen over night, but this is the time-tested method that builds muscle.
