Quick question:
Would you like 15-20lbs of extra muscle?
And, would you like to dramatically boost your strength and get that dense, hard look that old-time bodybuilders had?
Than it’s time to start deadlifting.

You see, many of the old-time bodybuilders used the deadlift as a staple in their routines. And as a result, they sprouted thick, hard muscles.

The deadlift is a great exercise for packing on slabs of new muscle.
However, not everyone can perform this exercise safely.
For some people, the deadlift puts a lot of stress on the lower back.
I myself avoided heavy deadlifts because my lower back simply couldn’t take the abuse.
However, recently I discovered a different style of deadlifting that allows me to lift heavy without lower back pain.

Just a quick update today.
I wanted to make a post about a news item I saw on ESPN.
Most people know that professional bodybuilders take steroids.
But did you ever wonder how much they’re taking?

Today, ESPN reported that the doctor who prescribed steroids to Chris Benoit is facing new charges.
(If you don’t know the story about Chris Benoit, you can read up here.)
Anyway, the doctor who gave Benoit his steroids is charged with improperly dispensing prescription drugs.
Here’s The Important Part:
The ESPN article stated that Benoit was receiving a 10-month supply of anabolic steroids every 3-4 weeks.
That’s why the advice from the popular muscle magazines can be so dangerous. Not only are these guys taking illegal and harmful anabolic steroids… but they’re taking nearly a years worth of steroids in just one month.
You can read the news bulletin here.

I just finished "Beyond The Universe" by Bill Pearl.
Pearl is one my all-time favorite "classic" bodybuilders.

Pearl was famous for his outstanding triceps development.
What was his secret?
Here’s the scoop straight from the man himself:
From page 143 of "Beyond The Universe".
"Triceps became my most impressive muscle group because of heavy overhead movements.
I chose those type of exercises by studying how the muscle attached to the skeletal structure."
Most of today’s gym rats have tiny triceps because they focus on the isolation exercises that use light weights.
Pearl built his sleeve-stretching triceps by hoisting heavy weights up and over his head.
Here’s A Heavy Duty Triceps Exercise
If you want bigger arms, it’s time to get serious about triceps training.
And the following just might be the king of triceps exercises.
The Standing Barbell
Overheard Partial "Push" Press
To do this exercise correctly, you’ll need a Power Rack (most gyms have something like this).

Set up the steel rods so that you cannot lower the bar any lower than the top of your head.
This movement is just like an overhead press, but instead of brining the barbell all the way down the front of your chest you are only going to bring the barbell down to the top of your head.
This shorter range of motion allows you to use a lot more weight and puts more emphasis on the triceps while relieving the shoulders.
Replace your usual triceps exercise with this classic movement for 6-8 weeks and watch how fast your triceps grow.

I have seen natural (no drugs or supplements) guys completely transform and gain over 75 pounds of muscle in a little over 12 months.
And I’ve seen examples of steroid-junkies who waste thousands of dollars a month on steroids go no where with their training.

Sounds unbelievable right? After all, everybody knows that steroid-users will gain more muscle than clean trainers, right?
Not exactly.
Here’s the deal:

Here’s the situation:
A few days ago, you watched Rocky IV. And watching Rocky beat the Russian inspired you to get off your butt and get back into the gym.
So the next day you got to the gym and knocked out an incredible leg workout.
Your reward?

D.O.M.S. or Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness.
Which means, you’ll spend the next 2-3 days limping around like a 95-year old man with wooden legs.

But hey, no pain no gain. Right?
After all, if you’re suffering this much than your muscles must be growing. Right?
Not exactly.

If you’re a skinny guy trying to build muscle and gain weight, you may have heard that you should drop all cardiovascular activities.
The theory is simple. To gain weight and build muscle, you need a surplus (or an abundance) of calories.
And since cardiovascular activities like running or biking burn calories some trainers believe you should cut them out when trying to gain weight.

So should you ditch the cardio if it’s your goal to gain weight and build muscle?
Absolutely NOT.
Here’s why:

A couple of characters were telling hardgainers how to gain muscle. Only trouble is… the guys doling out the advice were most certainly NOT hardgainers.
